retiring solicitor
I was a contractor on a large school project
The builder owed me over $250,000 at the time of project completion, and only offered to pay me $50,000 and gave me 30days to accept their offer
This would potentially send me to bankruptcy and left me and my family in a huge amount of debt
I called penhall for a meeting to discuss my matter and I took the project contract to review and discuss
Penhall advised me not to accept the $50,000 offered by the builder and assured me that he will get me all the money owed to me plus interest.
Penhall advised me his fee would be $60,000 and I said not a problem.
Penhall asked me to provide him with further project documents and information and said he will be contact me shortly.
I left feeling confident and asked penhall to let me know how much I needed to pay upfront.
About 2weeks after meeting with penhall, I called to see how my matter was progressing and I was advised penhall hasn’t forgotten my file and he would contact me in about 2weeks.
For 5months I would call every 2weeks and penhall would advise me that my file was not forgotten and my file was next to be started and they would contact me.
After 5months of waiting, I contacted penhall and asked why my matter was taking so long?
Penhall then advised me that he never intended to take on my case because he didn’t believe I would pay my bill.
Penhall advised me that he is about to retire and wanted to make as much money as possible before retirement and he did not believe I would pay my bill.
Just cruel and nasty!
